At Gallery-Close, we pride ourselves on being one of the friendliest galleries to visit in Edinburgh. We are located in the heart of the historic Georgian New Town, mid-way between Princes Street and Stockbridge. Founded in 2016 by renowned photographer Chris Close, our gallery is dedicated to showcasing the work of new and established photographers from around the world.

Our Story

Chris Close, our owner and director, is a long-established professional photographer with decades of experience working with high-end clients locally and globally. He has a deep understanding of photography from a technical, aesthetic, and artistic perspective. Chris's passion for photography has taken him to various parts of the world, where he has captured breathtaking landscapes and portraits that evoke emotions and tell stories.

Our Services

At Gallery-Close, we offer a wide range of services to cater to our clients' needs. We exhibit a variety of photographic work and individually themed exhibitions throughout the year. Our team is committed to providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere, encouraging visitors to engage with the artwork and learn about the photographers behind the images.

Buying Artwork

We offer a range of prints and artworks for sale, printed archivally onto the highest quality art paper or silver halide paper. Our inks are pigment-based and capable of a much higher gamut (colour range) than traditional inks. We can also offer a choice of standard 2mm float glass, 3mm acrylic or non-reflective glass for framing. Each has its pros and cons, and our team is happy to discuss the options with you.

Tutoring and Workshops

In addition to our exhibitions, we offer tutoring and workshops to individuals and groups. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced photographer, our workshops cover a range of topics, from basic photography skills to advanced techniques. Our team is committed to sharing their expertise and helping you improve your photography skills.

Venue Hire

Our gallery is also available for hire as a venue for events, exhibitions, and corporate functions. We offer a unique and elegant space that can accommodate a range of events, from small gatherings to large corporate functions. Our team is happy to work with you to tailor a customized event to meet your needs and preferences.
