Award-Winning Documentary Photographer in Oxford
I am a documentary photographer with over four decades of professional experience, capturing the complexities of the human condition through diverse visual narratives. My career began with architectural studies in Birmingham during the 1960s, followed by community-focused work in Bristol's housing sector and a postgraduate MA in documentary photography from the University of Wales Newport in 2004. My practice spans global travel documentation, social portraiture, and commissioned projects for architects, charities, and cultural organisations. Based in Oxford since 2021, I chair Photo Oxford, curating the city's international biennial photography festival. My self-published photobooks, including 12 titles showcasing work from Ethiopia to the Galapagos, reflect my commitment to authentic storytelling.

Through exhibitions like 'Life in Lockdown Portraits 2020/21' and 'North Bristol Artists Portrait Project 2016-2019', I combine technical expertise with deep social engagement. My approach prioritises ethical representation, having worked across 40+ countries while maintaining strong local connections. As a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society (FRPS), I uphold the highest standards of professional practice. My work appears in public collections and has been exhibited at venues including the Millennium Dome. I continue to collaborate with cultural institutions while mentoring emerging photographers through Photo Oxford's educational programmes.
